While I found he made some interesting points, I lean more towards agreeing with you. I think the biggest problem, much like agile itself, is that everyone has had different “agile-esque” (or SAFe) experiences, both good and bad, due in large part to poor understanding or execution. So, to say he doesn’t have any SAFe experience is probably not accurate, as he may have had a poor experience with SAFe that has led to his bias. Coupled with the fact that SAFe only recently made a poor attempt at incorporating product/UX design (sorry, its all the same), you can easily see how a product designer could have had a bad experience with a badly managed program. It is easy for the business to become more focused on output rather than outcomes, based on a system designed to facilitate faster and more efficient delivery of working code. Cheers to you both, as I think this is a healthy debate.
